You’ve Got to Check Out Ice castles Winnipeg
The moment one sets foot into Ice Castles Winnipeg all thoughts about the deep freeze that is our city vanish from the mind. The tunnels, slides, caves, lights, music… are such a delight. It is the perfect place to take new Instagram pictures. Trust me, I know. I may have taken ahem, ‘a few’ photos.
The moment I walked through the entrance I was in awe. I pulled my phone out in a daze and immediately started taking pictures. I could not get enough. The other guests around me seemed to be having a similar experience. Everyone, adults and kids alike, was rushing into a tunnel, a lighted ice wall or lining up for the slide and posing for pictures. The atmosphere was filled with excitement.
Visiting Ice Castles is the new fun thing to do this winter in Winnipeg. If you are looking for additional activities to your skating, skiing or snowshoeing, or if you are not usually an outdoor type of person but you want to break that trend, or maybe you are new to Winnipeg, then check out the ice castles. They are amazing.
My only suggestion to Ice Castles is to have a few other activities within the castles available for after the initial fascination wears off. A hot chocolate stand or even candy stand would be a great addition. Or perhaps a game of trivia about how the idea of the ice castles came about or just anything else that is a little extra.
Otherwise it’s like being in a fairytale with the glowing lights on the gigantic ice walls, the transcendent music from within the walls, the fire pits and even the princesses in their gowns and tiaras.
Go check it out. If you’re a cheapo like me, Monday to Thursday are your days of choice. Ice Castles Winnipeg is located at Parks Canada Place at the Forks Historic Site. If you do go, tag me on your IG pictures @valerie_nyamori.
